Mandarin Oriental Nearly Ready For Its Shanghai Entry

Here's one to bookmark for those of you who plan on making any stops in China this spring: a well-known international luxury brand is planning to open a 362-room hotel in Shanghai, right on the Huangpu River. But don't get this confused with that other luxury brand, Four Seasons, which recently opened up right around the same spot. (It's not Bulgari, either; that one won't be opening until 2015)

Click this link for Book Your Hotels in Malaysia for cheap and affordable prices.

No, the one we're talking about is actually Mandarin Oriental Shanghai, whose opening is suddenly right around the corner. Set to debut in March, MO Shanghai will be a very handsome addition to the Pudong scene.

In amenities alone, the hotel will offer a 13-suite spa with a boutique and signature MO products, a 25m pool, a 500-seat ballroom, a swanky Club Lounge and six restaurants and bars, including a Mandarin cake shop.

As for the rooms, everything seems pretty much on par for MO's love of Asian-inspired decor (then again, this is Shanghai) and rich textures. Hence the beige carpet with black linear motifs, the black curved leather armchair, the peacock-inspired bed spread, the beige patterned headboard, the black marble counters, the plasma TVs sunken into the walls....the list goes on.

Westin Cape Coral Commences In South West Florida

The Westin opened its first full-service property in southwest Florida last week in Cape Coral at Marina Village, located 18 miles from Southwest Florida International Airport and overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, the Caloosahatchee River and San Carlos Bay.
westin-cape-coral-hotel

Why come here? Well, Cape Coral is called the "Waterfront Wonderland" as it has more miles of canals than any other city in the world (400 miles of navigable waterways), so the 263-room Westin (previously known as The Resort at MarinaVillage) capitalizes on the location. The hotel is ensconced in the waterfront community of Tarpon Point, and, as a result, boating, fishing, and marine activities are big draws here.
westin-cape-coral-hotel

While we love us some pool time, the hotel is close to Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, and Fort Myers Beach, which screams "day trip" to us. You can expect all the usual suspects from Westin’s "Heavenly" line, including the bed, bath, shower, and robes, along with the SuperFoods menu to help you make a few good choices while vegging out on the Gulf of Mexico.

Colliers International -Before 2014 No Any Major Hotel Construction in Yangon

Colliers International -Before 2014 No Any Major Hotel Construction in Yangon

The boom in total foreign arrivals into Myanmar in 2012 is bumping into the lack of hotel rooms in the former capital Yangon as well as at main tourist destinations.

YANGON- While Myanmar is experiencing a boom in tourist arrivals (+35% for the first half year 2012), the shortage of hotel rooms is worsening as almost no new hotel has so far opened. According to the report of Colliers International Thailand over Myanmar’s property market for the second half of 2012, construction of hotels in Yangon is now at still stand. No new supply is scheduled to be completed in 2012, due to one hotel in the Downtown Area rescheduling its completion date to 2013. Two other hotels are in the pipeline and are expected to be finished in 2014 in the Inner City Area. According to Colliers International Thailand, the downtown, inner city and outer areas of Yangon have a total of 1,730 upscale hotel rooms, three times less than Bangkok city center

The property market in the country encounters however weaknesses which generates difficulties for foreign investors desiring to move into the country. One of the biggest difficulties is the implementation of a new legal frame for investors. New laws on private investments have been voted early November 2012 but more steps will be necessary to ensure a complete transparent business environment. Under the new law, foreign investors can lease land from the government or from authorized private owners for up to 50 years, depending on the type and size of the investment, and the deal can be extended twice, for 10 years each time. Foreign companies can also benefit from tax exemption for a period covering the first five years of operation.

Myanmar now has about 25,000 hotel rooms across the country. Most are three- to four-star establishments, while five-star ones account for 5 per cent.

Australia’s main Five-Star Brand - Accor’s Pullman Hotel

Accor’s Pullman Hotels brand officially became Australia’s largest five-star hotel brand following the re-branding of Sea Temple Resort & Spa Port Douglas. It follows the re-branding to Pullman of Sea Temple Resort & Spa Palm Cove earlier this week. They join two Pullman hotels in Cairns (Reef Casino and the former Sebel) to give the Pullman brand a prominent position in Tropical North Queensland’s hotel and tourism industry.
Accor Pullman Hotel

The two new additions bring the Pullman network to 10 in Australia, making it officially Australia’s largest five-star hotel brand -- achieved just four years after Pullman debuted in Australia. Pullman overtook Hilton -- which had been operating in Australia for 38 years -- as the country’s largest upscale brand. The new Pullmans join a global network of over 70 hotels, which is expected to grow to 150 hotels and resorts by 2015.

The latest two re-brandings highlight that Pullman’s resort arm is set to grow as fast as the brand’s city network. The two Far North Queensland Pullman resorts join Pullman Bunker Bay in Western Australia’s Margaret River region, and Pullmans in other major resort locations such as Bali, Phuket, Pattaya, Marrakech and Cannes.

The rebranding of Sea Temple Palm Cove and Port Douglas to Pullman Palm Cove Sea Temple Resort & Spa and Pullman Port Douglas Sea Temple Resort & Spa heralds a time when the brand in the Asia Pacific region has more properties slated to take on Pullman resort branding in the coming months. Both of the Pullman Sea Temple resorts have Mii Spa day spas, numerous dining options and signature lagoon-style pools.

Art Series Hotels Has Introduced World's Latest Checkout

Essentially guests don't have to check out of their room until someone checks in. We think hotels keeping the rooms vacant are a bit of a waste. If people are not using them, why not let guests stay longer - even if it's a few days! Naked have developed a genuine product innovation we're extremely excited by. We're rolling it out over summer - and then we'll see how we go, with the aim to introduce the product during quiet times of the year.
Art Series Hotel

Adam Ferrier, founder of Naked Communications, which has made a series of adverts for the new project, said: "Having to check out by 11.00am is not very cool, especially if no one else needs the room. We've worked with Art Series to rejig the whole thing - and we are really excited to announce the Overstay Checkout. The hotel in effect is giving away something of value to the consumer - late check outs and free overnight stays, whilst at the same time it doesn't cost the hotel anything as its all unsold inventory." The Overstay Checkout operates between December 16th to January 13th, and is open to anyone staying at the hotel. The Art Series Hotel Group has created three boutique hotels in Melbourne in less than a year.

Following the brand’s recent debut in the Middle East, a St. Regis team played an exhilarating match at Pink Polo in Abu Dhabi, held at The Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club on November 10th 2012. In Thailand, the St. Regis Ladies’ team will participate in the Queen Sirikit St.

Only last month, the St. Regis USA Team played at the Royal Salute Gold Cup 2012 China Open Polo Tournament, marking the brand’s first foray into polo in China, and St. Regis returned to the Singapore Polo Club in September this year as the official hotel sponsor for the Singapore Open.

“St. Regis has become a leader in the world of polo, and it is exciting to see our programming expand to new vibrant destinations such as Abu Dhabi and China, two regions of significant growth for the brand,” says Paul James, Global Brand Leader for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts. “We look forward to furthering St. Regis’ polo legacy and inviting guests to discover remarkable polo experiences around the world.”

Indian Hotels up 3% Orient communicate snubs takeover bid again

It could be third time unlucky for Indian Hotels as rival Orient Express, which operates luxury hotels and trains has turned down its acquisition bid yet again. The Tata’s-owned Indian Hotels, which already holds around 7 percent stake in Orient Express had along with Charme II fund founded by Ferrari Chairman Luca Montezemolo, bid over USD 1.2 billion to acquire the company. Indian Hotels, which operates the Taj Group of Hotels, had offered to pay USD 12.63 a share to buy Orient Express. However, that has been rejected as "unattractive."
Indian Hotels

"The Indian Hotels' proposal is deeply unattractive from a financial perspective. The board believes the current macro-economic environment, conditions in the luxury hotels business, and factors unique to Orient Express would make this a highly disadvantageous time to sell the company to realize the true value," Orient Express Chairman Robert Lovejoy said in a statement.
Indian Hotels

Indian Hotels' Vice Chairman RK Krishna Kumar had written a letter to Lovejoy last month explaining the objectives and hinting at an improved offer. But Orient Express says it’s better off as an independent company. Now that it has rejected the offer, will Indian Hotels raise its bid, needs to be seen. According to the Reuters news agency, the company is considering its options now. Analysts have already questioned Indian Hotels' acquisition bid, its third for Orient Express, given the slowdown that has hurt the hotel industry amid the overall global economic downturn and the fact that the company is already struggling financially. The stock has fallen 10 percent since it made its offer last month. The Tata-Group company reported a net loss of Rs 6 core in the second quarter, compared with a profit of Rs 8 core a year ago. Indian Hotels' shares were up 2.7 percent at Rs 65 on NSE in morning trade on Friday. US-listed Orient Express closed down 11 percent at USD 10.55.

Is any innovative in central Vietnam?

Almost 20 years after Banyan Tree conceptualized its flagship Phuket property in an ecologically desolate former tin mine, the pioneering eco-luxe brand launches its first Beautiful Vietnam resort along with three-kilometer beach in Lăng Cô Bay - a holiday spot historically favored by Vietnamese royalty. Banyan Tree Lang Co has 17 beach villas, 32 lagoon villas and 229 condominiums all inspired by feudal-era architecture, plus a lagoon pool, an Angsana spa and an 18-hole championship golf course, and marine and conservation centers, all backed by rugged mountains with views over Vietnam's East Sea. It is close to central Vietnamese highlights such as the My Son Champa ruins, the world's largest known cave passage, Hang Son Dòng, and the ancient trading town of Hoi An.

In Hoi An itself, the culinary capital of the central coast, check out Q Bar Hoi An for sake-vodka cocktails in one of the city's oldest surviving Chinese shop houses.

And just north in Da Nang, Michel Roux's La Maison 1988 opens in an 18th-century mansion in December. Also in the town is the French-run steak-and-lobster joint O De V in a colonial villa near the Han River, for haute dining. And don't miss the warm chocolate fondant with salted caramel ice cream at new Da Nang chocolatier Pheva

Information about Hanoi's Church Boutique Hotel

Maybe Hanoi’s Church Boutique Hotel heard me complaining about it looking tired and dated when I last passed through here for Travelfish.org, as not only have they opened another hotel on nearby Hang Gai Street, the original Nha Tho location has been completely refurbished — and my jaw hit the floor when I saw the transformation.

Hotels in Hanoi change regularly. Sometimes it’s a name change, other times a bit of tidying up and a paint job, and very occasionally they rip it all out and start again. The Church falls into the latter category. I was assured that the management is still the same, but they have really upped their game.
The building is still the same building, the room layout is the same and the door is still opened by a uniformed doorman, or if you’re as lucky as I was, two of them. But gone are the tatty carpets and the dark wood fittings, to be replaced with mirrored walls, lots of white, large black and white photos and an overall touch of glamour. The designers haven’t got it all right; in my non-interior designer opinion for example, the carpets are too heavy and elaborate and there are a few too many patterns going on, but if you want a change from more traditional Vietnamese style and can’t stand laminated wood wardrobes then this could be the place for you. It’s not quite Maison d’Hanoi but that’s where it’s trying to be.
The heavy use of white and mirrors is definitely an advantage when it comes to the smallest of the rooms; despite their size and having only a small window the rooms don’t feel at all claustrophobic, although they do lack storage. If you want more space, upgrade to a slightly larger room at the front or a suite. Bathrooms are now modern black and white affairs. Some are compact, but still squeeze in a large sink, a big-enough shower cubicles and plenty of fluffy white towels.

Halloween Party Dress up at the Meninas Hotel in Madrid

Halloween is full of mystery and enchantment. The Meninas Hotel in Madrid will be one of the few in the world and the only one in Madrid to dress up its façade in a fanciful Halloween theme. The magnificent front of the Meninas Hotel, housed in an aristocratic 19th Century building, is one of its most remarkable features and can be seen at 7 Campo mares Street, close to the Royal Palace.

The Meninas Hotel is located in a protected building from 1860. It features six stories with typical Madrid-style wrought iron balconies, which have been decorated with the classic Halloween pumpkins. The hotel’s regular lighting has been turned off to be replaced by the soft light that emanates from inside the carved pumpkins. The result is a colorful and exciting architectural surprise to all visitors, an original and unique idea in the Spanish capital.

The theme continues inside the building, to amuse and surprise all its visitors and guests: the staff at the Meninas will portray classic horror characters such as demons, emperors of darkness, vampires… even the Hotel Director, Pedro Alonso, will surprise visitors in his costume. The interior will also be decorated with the recreation of a stunning cave of deadly spiders, suspenseful music and projections from the netherworld, to make the most mystery-filled night of the year even more fun.
