Luxury hotel group Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has opened a new hotel in Yangzhou in the Jiangsu province of China. The Shangri-La Hotel, Yangzhou is the 35th property of the Hon-Kong-based group in mainland China and the first international five-star hotel in the city.
The hotel is located in the New Western District of Yangzhou, overlooking the Mingyue Lake and situated within a classic Chinese garden featuring pavilions, pagodas and koi ponds. Situated near the conference and exhibition center, the hotel itself has eight function rooms, a VIP greeting room and a 1,485m² grand ballroom, which can be divided into three separate ballrooms.
The 369 rooms in the hotel include the Horizon Club floor accommodations and private lounge; amenities offered include a health club with a 25m indoor swimming pool, a gym, tennis court and massage treatment rooms. Cafe Xiu at the hotel serves international cuisines at five interactive cooking stations, while the Shang Palace offers a Cantonese and traditional Huaiyang menu.
The group has opened two hotels in China earlier this year. Shangri-La Hotel in Changzhou was opened in October under an agreement with Qiaoyu Group, while the 337-room Shangri-La Hotel, Haikou on Hainan Island opened in November. Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has an inventory of 32,000 rooms in 77 hotels managed under the Shangri-La, Kerry and Traders brands; it has projects in mainland China, India, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Qatar, Sri-Lanka, Turkey and the UK in pipeline.
