The Westin opened its first full-service property in southwest Florida last week in Cape Coral at Marina Village, located 18 miles from Southwest Florida International Airport and overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, the Caloosahatchee River and San Carlos Bay.
Why come here? Well, Cape Coral is called the "Waterfront Wonderland" as it has more miles of canals than any other city in the world (400 miles of navigable waterways), so the 263-room Westin (previously known as The Resort at MarinaVillage) capitalizes on the location. The hotel is ensconced in the waterfront community of Tarpon Point, and, as a result, boating, fishing, and marine activities are big draws here.
While we love us some pool time, the hotel is close to Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, and Fort Myers Beach, which screams "day trip" to us. You can expect all the usual suspects from Westin’s "Heavenly" line, including the bed, bath, shower, and robes, along with the SuperFoods menu to help you make a few good choices while vegging out on the Gulf of Mexico.
